Mi family is very normal; we are five people: my grandfather, my grandmother, my father, my mother and me.
My grandfather is a hard working person and he is very tall, he is a carpenter in my town. At present, he is a pensioner, but he is working at home doing family, friends and old customers' favours.
TASK 1: DESCRIBING PEOPLE
Category: 1.- Describing people Date 2008-01-18 00:12:26
Hello everybody,
How are you feeling today? During this first week, we are going to practise physical and psychological descriptions, likes and dislikes, hobbies and abilities, family members and many other things.
Here you are the different TASKS, just choose one of them and try to do your best!
1.- Make your personal description as best as you can.
2.- Make a general description about the people who have the same horoscope than you.
3.- Write a formal letter to the person in charge of a TV contest to take part into it. Show the best part of you describing yourself. (The TV program can be whichever you want).
4.- In pairs, build a dialogue asking for your partner's personal information and answering in such a way that we can know as many things as possible about him/her.
5.- Describe a member of your family, but first at all map your family showing all the members as a part of a whole.
6.- Write a descriptive email exposing the stereotype that foreign people have from Spaniards and at the same time give your personal opinion and comments about the respect.
You can work individually or in couples, as you want.
All the best,
Loli
WE START OUR BASIC ENGLISH LEVEL PREPARATION
Category: Speaking Date 2008-01-08 01:27:56
Good evening,
I hope you have enjoyed your Christmas holidays and now you are eager to restart our English classes. Mostly because we have a new challenge: to prepare for the Basic English level examination. But, don´t be afraid as we have plenty of time to do it, I mean from January to June.
First of all, as we are new people in the class, let's try to know each other. Just a small questionnaire to share with the whole class.
- What's your name?
- Where are you from?
- Where do you live?
- What do you do for your living?
- How many hours a day do you work?
- Do you have a big family?
- Why do you want to learn English?
- What languages do you speak?
- What are your interests?
- Do you like travelling? Where would you like going this summer?
- Where have you gone at Christmas holidays?
- How did you feel this Christmas?
- How do you feel today?
- What are your future plans?
Ok, well done, continue this way!
See you!
MEETING A COLLEAGUE
Category: Business Course Date 2007-12-18 11:34:03
After making your idol's interview, you are going to meet with a colleague from the United Kingdom. He/She works like you in a quite similar job and he/she is going to work beside you in your same enterprise/factory for a week. (Look for him/her in the classroom. It can be interesting to chose a partner who is working more or less in the same job as you).
The purpose of the visit is to take profit from the ways of working in both countries. So, through a dialogue your are going to interchange ideas, expectations and possible goals to improve the possibilities of your work and your enterprise.
It is said that it is a good proverb: "Think of global, act in local".
You will probably need some vocabulary and expressions, look at them in the different Business textbooks and Business dictionaries spread all over the classroom.
After this, your boss is going to ask you for a draft with the conclusions and your interesting labour findings, so try to put in order your ideas as best as you can, otherwise you will be dismissed.
Good luck!
TASK: An oral dialogue with the purpose of taking some notes and a written draft exposing the main ideas for improving your job.
Now you can hear every article
Category: Comments Date 2007-12-11 23:40:12
Hello everybody,
A new and quite interesting tool has been brought out in our educational blogs. I mean that you can hear every article we have put on this blog. It is a good opportunity for listening although it sounds quite mechanical as it is a machine which transforms text into audio. Nevertheless, have a look at it!. Just click below each article on the boy with a speech bubble and a blue T-shirt icon.
Best listenings!
