TASK 3: IN A SHOP

Category: 3.- In a shop Date 2008-02-19 11:09:05

Hello all of you,

Here we go with the third task.  Through this new task we are going to buy some products in some shops, we are going to make a consumer interview, we are going to sell some products and we are going to move around a shopping centre.

So, choose one task and do it.  Most of them are role plays, so you will have to do an spoken activity to an audience.

Here you are the different tasks and here you are the Harrods Store website which is located in London just to have a look at it.

1.-  Prepare a role-play with a partner.  You are in a Department Store, so choose any shop and buy what you want.  One of you will be the shop-assistant or the seller and the other one will be the customer.  Make as many questions as you want and ask for the information you need in order to get a good product and to achieve a real satisfaction.

2.-  Make a notice or a wall chart to put in the main hall of an important Shopping Centre.  The notice will show all the shops and services as well as the different floors where they are located.

3.-  Look at and write down in a list different useful sentences that can be used in different shops while you are buying some products, some food, some clothes, some goods,... Try to be polite!

4.-  In couples, make an interview about your partner's consumer habits, you can ask and answer what you want, it's your election.

5.- You have to spend 2000 Euros in Harrods this evening since you have just received a gift voucher from one of your best friends, but it is necessary to buy at least 6 different articles, so explain where are you going to buy them, I mean in which section inside the Department Store, how much are they separately and how much are they altogether as well as why have you chosen them.

6.-  You want to sell something you don't need it any more, so put an advert on the newspaper and try to encourage the possible customers to buy it.  Give as much information as possible about the product and its characteristics and the way to contact you.  (Pay attention to the adjective order).

All the best,

Loli

TASK 2.- HOW TO PREPARE A FUTURE INTERCHANGE IN YOUR OUTLET

Category: Tasks 07/08 Date 2008-02-12 19:27:42

MADRID INTERCHANGE DRAFT

This a short report about the last week when I went to Madrid in an interchange with an outlet similar to our factory. I was received by Mr. Tomas Valiente and Shara Barbara some of the colleges there. Tomas Valiente offered me to stay with him in his office in order to learn how was his daily work.  Mss Shara introduces me other colleges working in other departments in order to know the interrelation between departments in the factory. These contacts were very useful and I had the opportunity to take several notes to put in practice in our enterprise. Also I suggested them several changes in the chain production and they were welcomed because it would increase the production in a 5 % without any extra effort.

All the notes that I took from the interchange which we can use for our factory are in the attached document to this report.

One of my suggestion is that It will be interesting to make coincidence of this personal exchange with their annual celebration in order to share opinions with other colleges invited to it from similar factories to ours. This event will take place next weekend.

I went with Shara and Tomas to have a dinner in Madrid and we had the opportunity to talk longer about different topics linked with the production and the personal in charge of it in an informal atmosphere.  This dinner was paid with the corporal VISA, I think it will be kind of me to pay it; the total cost was 340 Euros.

As a conclusion, I suggest we have other interchange in our factory and so we can take notes from the experience of our colleges in other outlets.

TASK 2.- MY JOB

Category: Tasks 07/08 Date 2008-02-12 17:21:09

I'm working in an office, I'm an accountant, I'm answering the phone to customers, because I'm staying in a customer-deparment. They are usually a bit annoyed, because they didn't receive mercandise in due course. My job is very stressful because I'm in charge of sales dealers, too.

I'm making management processes, for example  (turnover, account an invoice, bank reconciliation, customer service....etc)  I like my job because it is very entertaining.

In my office, there are different departments, for example ( Human resources department, financial departarment, supplier department, etc....)

There is also a gym, but I' dont go there, because I go to the snack-bar with my workmates.

I finish work very tired because I stay  for the whole day there, and I eat in my job every day.

I would like to learn spoken English, because perhaps I would need it  for a  next  job since in some jobs they need people who know speak English.

Being an acountant isn't a grateful job, because the enterprise thinks acountants aren't so  productive, so we recieved a small salary every month.

TASK 2.- MY JOB

Category: Tasks 07/08 Date 2008-02-11 12:45:12

I hold down a job that is a vocational profession.  I´m a nurse at a big hospital which specialities are: Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery.  It´s a permanent job from 1972 in Operating Room Service.

I studied at the Medicine Faculty of Zaragoza.  When I studied and at one of my practical training in operating room, at that moment, I knew for certain what  I´d want to do when I finished my studies.  And I had a lot of luck.

From the first day of my labour life, I have stayed in this place that I have been very happy.

My job has made me or has helped me to be happy, through many years, well, through all my life.

This job is, has been and will be: day by day and night by night. The same is, has been and will be on Monday or on Friday. The same has been at the weekend, at Easter, at Christmas.... Such hard it´s the casualities in the accident as the tumour disease, such hard it´s the inability disase as the fracture in the elder who lives alone.

For the emotional stability, nurses of operating room can bear in a better way the illness and the suffering of the other. First of all and immediately, every sick who arrives in an operating room is relieved from the pain, he´s calmed down and sedated. And because of the job gets easier. There are very, very hard days. Nurses are persons who get sick, who have sick relatives and they also look after other sick persons.

However, my job helps me to be happy. I enjoy with the well done job. I look for the perfection, for helping the surgeon to get his purpose:  to cure or to improve health.

My job, everyday and at every operation it´s to prepare everything, what it´s necessary for the anaesthesia and the instruments of operations in case of emergencies or daily schedule job. Afterwards, I help the anaesthetist and  I warn possible problems or I help the surgeon going in advance and forecasting or even, I can be waiting for all of them. My satisfaction is when everything is controlled and if it arises an unexpected event, I notice it with the speed enough that I can solve the problem.

However at the beginning, it wasn´t so easy. The study, the different specialility courses and the experience has done that my job today was fully satisfying. Despite all, I´m feeling  happy.
