TASK 2.- MY JOB (BY LUCIA)
Category: Tasks 07/08 Date 2008-02-06 19:59:11
I work as a draughtswoman in a company of metal. I have to draw with the computer, and some drawings are a bit complicated. There are some moulds for aluminiun extrusion. They are used to make doors and windows.
I came to this company seventeen years ago. Now I work six hours a day. My schedule is from seven o'clock to one. And then I still work at home, I have to make the meal, clean the house, I have to wash clothes...
I feel good in my job because I change my schedule when I want to. My work is near my house, just five minutes far.
I'm happy with my job because I have a good salary.
I have good friends in my office. In general I have a great job, but I have an idiot, stupid and silly boss. Not everything is going to be perfect.
MY SWEDISH FRIEND

Hello Andreas,
How are you?. We are working about our Spanish life style and our daily routines. It can be interesting that you could tell me something about your Swedish life style so we can compare them.
Well, here in Spain we live like any other developed country. We work from Monday to Friday / Saturday. Young people, they go to pubs on Fridays and Saturdays. The rest of the week, they study or work.
Regarding nutritional habits they are varied. It's well-known our mediterran diet, but there are people who love eating fast food and fried food.
To finish, on holiday we go to the beach or to the mountains, in camping or hotels, it depends. They are people who like camping, it's very good for children. Moreover, a hotel is much more expensive than camping.
Take care, Carmelo Paricio Vicente
TASK 2.- My jobs
Category: Tasks 07/08 Date 2008-02-04 11:50:18
Hello everyone!
I studied Graduado Social and four years later, I did a Master in Human Resources and Work Relationships. But... Never I worked in that!
My first job was to be a bank postman, when I was 16 years old during the Secondary School.
Another jobs were for example advertising campaign distributor, administrative assistant.
At this very moment, I am a worker in a big company. I have been working here for twenty years.
Carmelo
TASK 2: DESCRIBING JOBS
Category: 2.- Describing jobs Date 2008-01-29 02:07:34
Hi everyone!
In this second task, we are going to speak about our labour experience, we are going to write a CV, to fill a job application form and many other things.
Remember you must choose at least one of the proposed TASKS, so work on it, write it down and prepare a speech for the whole class.
Here are the different tasks:
2.- Write your CV (Curriculum Vitae). A curriculum structure could be like this:
-Personal Details, -Education, -Experience, -Additional Information.
3.- Build an application form and fill it with your personal and labour information in order to apply for a job which you are quite interested in.4.- In pairs, through questions and answers, build a dialogue asking for your jobs and giving as much information as possible about them.
5.- You have just read an advert on the newspaper dealing with a job offer. You have been on the dole for six months and you are really interested in getting a job immediately. So, write an formal e-mail to the enterprise to offer yourself as the best person for the job as well as you try to get more details about the job asking for some additional information in a polite way. The advertisement on the newspaper said like that:
"INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION is looking for personnel for its new branch in Spain. If you are qualified as an accountant, a computer operator, a bilingual secretary or an engineer, we are interested in you. Send your details and salary requirements to Richard Coll using our mail address: clasedeingles@educaragon.org"
6.- You have just met with a person who works in an outlet of your firm located in Madrid. He/She is going to be your colleague since she/he works like you in a quite similar job and he/she is going to spent a week in your factory. The purpose of the visit is to take profit from the ways of working in both factories. So, through a dialogue you are going to interchange ideas, expectations and possible goals to improve the possibilities of your work and your firm.
After this week, your boss will ask you for a draft with all the conclusions and your interesting labour findings, so try to put your ideas as best as you can in a written draft exposing everything.
My personal advice is you try to do a different format that you did it in the previous task, I mean if you have already made a dialogue in TASK 1: Describing people, try with a composition, an application form, a CV or perhaps with an e-mail in this TASK 2: Describing jobs.
All the best,
Loli
Listenings and readings: DESCRIBING JOBS
Category: 2.- Describing jobs Date 2008-01-29 02:07:10
Try with these listenings and readings to practise a bit more about TASK 2: Describing jobs. I have taken them from our links and its searchers.
http://esl.about.com/library/listening/bllis_job1.htm
http://esl.about.com/library/reading/bl_read_jobad.htm
http://esl.about.com/library/beginner/bl_beginner_read_secretary.htm
Try to do it, because as much as you practise listenings and readings, they will be easier.
GOOD LUCK!
