New Year's Resolutions by Kike

Category: 2.- Future plans Date 2012-12-28 16:55:09

Christmas Day is near, and so it is New Year's Day. It’s a time of wishes and resolutions. I would like to change a lot of things for next year especially in Spain; because I’m a hopeful person.

Next year the Spanish economy will begin to improve. So job creation will be better than it was in 2012. I would like Spain had full employment.  It’s very sad the unemployment figures in our country.

If our politicians thought more in public matters than in their own interests, Europe will attain control in budget deficit without reducing social and education policies. If we had a good education, the young people would be able to do a new World. Countries would protect to the  poorest persons.

How could budget deficit be reduced in the European nations? First, the countries could control unnecessary costs and expenses. They should make only profitable inversions or of public interest. In relation to taxes, the rich should pay more taxes than the rest of people. So the nations could increase more capital taxation than income taxes.

I also hope Arab nations attain to live at complete liberty or freedom and they can promote the spread of democracy at every aspect of their lives, particularly in women's liberation.

Finally, if all the nations of the World had ceded or gave in their positions, they would have reached an agreement to reduce environmental pollution; so  greenhouse effect could begin to be solved and  climate change would be corrected or at least diminished.

But specially, I wish the war doesn't exist anymore at none of the countries in the World.

THE BEST MEDICINE by Kike

Category: 3.- Healthy habits Date 2012-12-27 18:50:53

If we are going to speak about healthy habits, we must speak about preventative medicine. All people know that it’s very important to enjoy a good health: weighing less, drinking less, smoking less, control cholesterol and blood pressure. Thus we have to eat healthy, to sleep enough, to make social connections, to practise some exercise, to visit the doctor and dentist,…

But, what does it come first? Or what is the habit that has the biggest impact in our health? A lot of comparative scientist analysis have proved that to practise some exercise everyday has a positive influence on other physical appearances. Like this, some exercise improves health problems, overweight, diabetes, cholesterol, depression, anxiety, dementia Alzheimer, fatigue, lower risk of death,… In conclusion, it improves our quality of life.

But, what type of exercise do we have to practise? That's enough walking. It isn’t necessary to do triathlons. That’s enough with walking half hour everyday. However, the results are higher if the exercise has more frequency and intensity.

Can’t we spend half hour everyday? Is that right? How long do we spend watching television? It’s very easy.  We have to try to do some exercise, but if we can’t spend much time, we can get off the bus one stop before our stop. Or we can go walking to work. Or we can use the stairs. We mustn’t behave as in the attached photograph.

We won’t leave it for the next year, we must start right now.

You can watch a video than explain all this in the next internet page:

See you soon,

Some questions?

Do you do some exercise? What type? How frequently?

Are you aware of the importance in doing exercise?

What benefits do you think you have?

Should it be obligatory at school?

OKINAWA DIET by Begoña

Category: 3.- Healthy habits Date 2012-12-27 16:55:34

Okinawa is a southern island in Japan, it is known because of its inhabitants are the most longevous in the country.  There, people has a high life expentancy.  Many of them live for more than 100 years.
Scientists and dieticians have lived with these people, and after some time, they have found out their diet combined with exercise is the best, and they have called it the Okinawa diet.

This diet is also known as rainbow, every colour has its meaning and it is represented by their vegetables and fruits: yellow and green contain antirust benefits, they are avocado, corn and melon; blue and violet help to control cancer and stimulate the brain, they are in blue and violet fruits such as the blueberries and blackberries…For more information, you can see this website: http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/fruits-vegetables.shtml

To be as happy as them you should follow their diet.  Among their recommendations, you could include, soya, tofu and rice.  You should avoid drinking alcohol, and substitute tea for coffee.  You don’t have to eliminate meat from your diet but you’d better eat more fish.
You mustn’t forget to include calcium found in dairy products, which are indispensable for your bones and mainly for women.  An ancient Japanese proverb called Hara Hachi Bu says: stop eating when are satisfied, not full.
The success of their healthy diet is the combination of daily exercise like walking, and slow movements that are adapted to their age.
Their philosophy is simple: Be positive, enjoy with simple things for instance: watch a sunrise or sunset, and share happy moments with family and friends.
Shall we try it?   TAKE CARE!

Plenty of time to enjoy and to review English through the blog, TV, books, films, friends...  or just singing carols and Xmas songs in English, I leave some of them in different blog articles.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!

Loli
