Asking for the doctor by Kike
Category: 1.- In a town/city Date 2012-10-24 20:03:19
I was going on a trip to Barcelona with my family, when Alba, my youngest daughter, fell ill. She had a bad stomachache. We needed a doctor. We were in La Puebla de Alfinden and didn’t know where there was one. Immediately, I looked a person:
– Excuse me,… – I asked him.
– I’m sorry, I’m in a hurry… – he said.
“He's really unpleasant”, I thought. But I was lucky, a girl came to me.
– Excuse me, we need to go to the doctor, could you tell me where is the nearest medical center, please? – I asked her.
– The doctor, mmm… In the town, the medical center is in Sindicato Street. It’s near here. – she answered me.
– I’m sorry, I don`t know this town, could you tell me how I can get to Sindicato Street, please?
– Ok. We are in Barrio Nuevo Street, in front of the Cajalon Bank. Go straight on along this street. Then, straight ahead Mayor Street. Later, turn on the left in Sun Street, it’s just before you arrive at the church. Afterwards, take the first right. The medical center is just there.
– Lovely. Thanks a lot.
We arrived at the medical center without problems.
Have something similar happened to you in any occassion?
Or perhaps in any strange town?
Does it have a happy ending?

Aula Dei is a beautiful monastery built in 1563 and occupy until recently dates. It's situated between the Montañana and Peñaflor neighbourhoods, near the Gallego river, in a irrigated area used for cultivation. Now you can to visit its church with some Goya paintings.
Come at Pilar square next Saturday at ten o'clock with your bike and we will go all together. For arriving at the monastery from there, we will cross the stone bridge, we will go straight on by Cataluña avenue, it's a great boulevard, so be careful with the traffic.. after we will cross another bridge, turn left and by a track we will go up the Gallego river, that way we will go calmer. In five kilometres you will see it on your left.
We will have arrived and you are welcome, enjoy the visit.

My suburb is Montañana By Begoña Moreno
Category: 1.- In a town/city Date 2012-10-22 22:29:08
My suburb is Montañana by Begoña Moreno
We are a couple born in Montañana; most of our relatives and friends live in this Zaragoza rural suburb (of Zaragoza).
My suburb is neither new nor modern, but It has everything you need to make our life pleasant. Its restaurants and festivals are well-known.
It has the longest street in the city of Zaragoza: It has about eight hundred numbers along it, I mean houses. In this moment we don’t have public swimming pools, however, our neighbours don’t give up.
We have a factory “La Montañanesa”, which makes paper, and because of this it needs to be near a river: the Gállego river; although It can be a little polluted, It is said that up in the river two kilometres far away a family of otters live; but this is a secret, you mustn’t tell anybody.
If you want to visit us from La Puebla, you should do the following: get in a car, take the A road towards Zaragoza, you will get Santa Isabel suburb and in the junction, take the right B road. You will pass Balay factory, you will find a roundabout, there go straight, leaving on your right Mamblas petrol station, drive over the motorway bridge, you will get another roundabout, cross it and go straight on, and about seventy metres on your right, you will see a sign which says “Asador de Pimientos”.
If you want to stop for a while, I will offer you a Somontano glass of wine and some red gold products from the Biota country, I mean red pepers. But… Come soon! ; We will only stay until the fourth November.
We look forward to seeing you.

PD: If you want to contact by email asadorpimientos@gmail.com or You can follow us on facebook, by the name or “Asador De Pimientos Montañana”.
Do you know Montañana?
Have you ever been there?
Would you live in there?
Have you ever been in our restaurant?

Tozal de Guara
Category: 1.- In a town/city Date 2012-10-22 12:10:03
Classmate, I am going to show you the route to go to the most emblematic peak in Guara mountain chain: The Tozal or Guara Peak, which with its only 2,077 m. of altitude (the highest of the mountain chain) offers us extraordinary sights of the environment.
Would you like to follow me? ...
From here, La Puebla de Alfindén, we take the A-road towards Zaragoza.
We arrive at the Z-40 roundabout, there we take the A-23 road towards Huesca.
You will leave San Juan de Mozarrifar on your left side, Villanueva de Gállego on the right, Zuera also on the right. Near Huesca (approximately 15 km.) we will happen to find Almudevar.
(They are the main villages before coming to Huesca).
At the Huesca belt or ring-road, we will take the 573 exit, to join to the N-240 road direction Barbastro/Lleida.
Later, take the Huesca road to Monzón /A-1227.
Then, turn to the right towards Siétamo road and Boltaña/A-1227.
Straight on along High Street /A-1227 and Turn to the left side towards Sta Cilia road.
It is possible to park in a parking before arriving at the town, or, if it is not full, in a smaller other one after crossing the streets inside the little town, next to the cemetery.
The way to go to “Tozal de Guara” is very clear, very trodden and indicated by many signs.
It's beautiful to climb it by its south-east side, with 1,300 accumulated difference metres but without difficulty, although everyone needs to be in a good shape. It's the most classic of the routes in the Guara Peak. Thought for me, it is not one of the nicest ways or paths. I personally prefer to rise this peak from Nocito town, (by its Northern part or North face), from there we will find more vegetation, but this is another story and another outing!....
