Last Friday we celebrated Halloween and "La Castañada". In the afternoon all the Infants and the students in the first cycle of Primary they all went to see a story told by some mothers and fathers from the school. The play was in Catalan. After that, they went with all the Primary students and ate chestnuts and "panillets" in the playground, using the bags that we had decorated in the Arts&Crafts class.

Our Year 2 students prepared a Halloween play for the younger students (Year 1 and infants). It was called "Dear Haunted House" and was about two children who were inviting some friends to their Halloween party. On the way came two spiders, two ghosts, two witches, two wolves, two skeletons, two pumpkins, two vampires and two devils. Although they were all different (some were ugly, some tall, some fat, some grumpy... ), at the end they all had fun and ate chocolate with worms.

We had an afternoon tea party in our classroom. We drank some tea and ate some tea biscuits. We enjoyed that a lot and had a great time together. Our teachers had a teapot and poured some tea in our cups. We ate some delicious biscuits, too. At the end we all sang and danced a very beautiful song that we have learnt: "I'm a little teapot, short and stout, here is my handle, here is my spout, when I get all steamed up, hear me shout, tip me over and pour me out".
Afternoon tea is a light meal typically eaten between 3pm and 5pm. It originated in the the United Kingdom. However, changes in social customs and working hours mean that most British people only take afternoon tea on special occasions.
Traditionally, tea is served in a teapot with milk and sugar. This is accompanied by various sandwiches (with cucumber, egg, fish paste, ham or smoked salmon), scones (with butter and jam) and usually cakes and pastries.

Year 1 students have planted some seeds (beans, lentils and a garlic). We have used a big plastic cup as a flowerpot, some soil and a shovel to plant the seeds and finally we have watered our plants. We have left them in a sunny area in our class and now we have to wait to see our plants grow. We hope they get very high and big... as high as the beans in the story Jack and the Beanstalk. Are the beans we have planted magic? We need to wait and we will see.
