Spanish humour

 AN ARTICLE ON SPANISH HUMOUR

I like Spanish humour because I think that is based on our own lives.

Spanish people like to laugh at things that happen around us, such as daily things that happen in our houses, between couples, within the marriage, about the families’ economic situation.

Spanish humour is also based on the political situation. Comedy programmes are not only based on the current government but also on the opposition political party.  We usually laugh at the Presidents of each political party in our country. Humorous people try to get the hardest point of each politician’ personality and they make fun of it.

Another kind of humour is made on people from different regions in Spain, especially people from the South of Spain (Andalucia) because they are represented as funny people due to their accent or because they are considered as very lazy people.

There are also many jokes about people from villages because they are considered as short-minded people; jokes about understanding the new technologies or being aware of things that happened in the rest of the world.

Spanish humour is also based on both embarrassing and dramatic situations. However we only laugh if the situation isn´t heard danybody or it is not based on old people or disabled people.

Other kinds of jokes are based on sex.  They are very funny if they are not very strong and can be listened to by young people.

The jokes that I don’t like at all, are those based on the sexual discrimination and people from other countries.

I would say that TV comedy programmes in Spain are specially based on the economic situation of people living in a suburb or on the political map in Spain.
